| This one's
not exactly a card, but it's definitely an integral part of the collection.
I bought this beautiful inlaid wood veneer box while on a day visit to
the spectacular Alhambra in Grenada, Spain.
It was hand made in a workshop within the Alhambra, and I discovered
it in amongst a number of chess boards, jewellery boxes and other card
boxes.
I spotted the boxes sporting Jokers/ Queens first, and was delighted
to eventually uncover the most appropriate and elegant storage for my
collection I could imagine.

It's gorgeous,
isn't it!
Looking closely at the box, I can tell that it is a real card that has
been squidged into the veneer of the box. It's a smaller card (three quarter
size?) version. The colours are quite Gaudi...!
It's not a very good photo, but you do get an idea of the lustrous quality
of the wood.
Inside the box is lined in red felt with a compartment for a full deck
of cards. My collection is now too big to fit and is migrating back into
frames! |
