The Queen of Spades
Citizen's Theatre

This one's a bit special as it wasn't actually found at Rocky, but it does have a connection.

This card was a prop from a production of Alexander Pushkin's "The Queen Of Spades", at the Circle Studio, Citizen's Theatre, which starred Imogen Claire, actor, dancer, choreographer and Transylvanian in Rocky.

In one scene a deck of cards was swept from a table onto the floor. I spotted a Jack of Clubs amongst them, and on the way out after the play I pretended to tie my lace and sneakily swiped it.

We met Imogen in the bar after, and I asked her to sign the card. The silver pen was a bit dodgy, so the ink ended up smeared all over the card (and the carpet!) but it's still beautiful.

Imogen passed away on 24/06/05

It's not that interesting visually, but it wouldn't have met the designer's spec to have garish modern cards.

And the addition of Imogen's smudged autograph (and the silver smears all over the front and back) embellish the classic traditional card.
